Dorsey Carl Brooks: 1920-2008

On January 27th, 2008 Marla's dad, Carl, passed away after a extended illness. I was honored to preach his funeral in Campton, KY. a few days later.

Carl was a wonderful man. He was a farmer, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to fox hunt and never met a stranger. He was very well respected throughout Wolfe Co. and the surrounding area.

I'll never forget his final days at Hospice of the Bluegrass in Lexington when I had the priviledge to read the Word of God to him. Everytime I would stop to rest a minute he would say, "I believe every word of it." That would become the title of my message at his funeral: "What does it mean to say, 'I believe every word of it?'"

The entire family was able to stay with him at Hospice until the end.  Everyone was so faithful to be with him, which bears witness to the love and respect we all have for Carl.

Please continue to pray for the family.

Thank you Carl, for wonderful times and precious memories!
